Two shot dead over rivalry

ROURKELA: Two persons were shot dead by hired killers of a rival group on Wednesday night at Railway Colony here.The double murder took place around 10.30 pm near the railway health dispensary as one Sunil Choudhary (26) and Sanjiv Sahu (25) were going on a two-wheeler. They were intercepted by four assailants who after an altercation fired point-blank.Choudhary, an anti-social, died on the spot, while Sahu, an auto-rickshaw driver, was declared brought dead at the Ispat General Hospital (IGH).GRP IIC Ajay Das said at least five rounds were fired and the incident took place over past enmity.Without identifying the accused, the IIC claimed that the murder was premeditated  as the victims were called to arrive at a truce. Yet they were killed shortly after a discussion. The officer added that another person, also in the hit list, managed to escape.One Bishan Singh and his aides Pawan Singh and Ratan Panda were detained for questioning. GRP sources said members of both the groups hailed from unauthorised slums on railway land.
