Lucknow: Congress on Tuesday charged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with indulging in "double speak" on the issue of corruption and opening its doors to even those who were expelled from other parties over serious charges.
"The Bharatiya Janata Party has opened its doors to ministers who had not just been dismissed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati following corruption charges but have also been denied Bahujan Samajwadi Party tickets. This proves its (BJP's) double speak", Congress spokesman Virendra Madan said.
Two tainted ministers, who were denied Bahujan Samajwadi Party tickets, figure in the list of Bharatiya Janata Party candidates declared on Monday while two others facing serious charges have been inducted in the Bharatiya Janata Party, he said, adding, "this fully exposes the character of the party whose leaders have been saying one thing on Lokpal Bill from public platforms and performing contrarily when the issue came up in Parliament."
Till just a few days ago, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders were issuing booklets of corruption in the Mayawati government and now they are making tainted ministers their members, Madan said.
"This also indicates that Bharatiya Janata Party is preparing grounds for forming a coalition government in the state," he added.
