New Delhi: Amazon has launched its India Kindle Store with over one million books priced in Indian Rupees. The store can be accessed at www.amazon.com/kindlestoreindia

Amazon has also announced the availability of its e-reader at Croma retail stores across India at Rs 6,999. The Kindle e-reader has a 6-inch E Ink display and can hold up to 1,400 books. It weighs 170 grams.

Prices of many digital books available on the Kindle India store are marginally lower than the discounted paperback versions sold by popular online retailers.

Amazon also launched Kindle Direct Publishing for independent authors and publishers in India to make their books available to Kindle customers.
