Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal have come a long way in their respective careers and have been each other’s biggest cheerleaders through thick and thin. Last year, the couple tied the sacred knot and got married in an intimate ceremony in Delhi. In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, the actress revisited her wedding day and also got candid about her interfaith marriage with the Fukrey co-star.
Richa shared, “No one cares about people and what they think. And I come from a very liberal, lovely family. Ali comes from a very liberal progressive family. We are both middle-class people. And we had a fantastic time. No one put pressure on us. And if they did, we didn’t take any pressure.”
She added, “We got married under the special marriage act, the family court is right around the corner. And it was super peaceful. And I don’t think it’s out of the ordinary. It happens in society, which is why there is a very big act for it. Of course, I feel like media really makes these kinds of things, it’s actually terrible and is very corrosive for society.”
We ask Richa if there’s one change that she has seen in herself after being with Ali, the actress smiled and added, “I think by osmosis, Ali is very ethical. One thing I learned from Ali actually is that he never says anything bad about anyone.”
She added, “He doesn’t gossip, no slander. He doesn’t. If someone is saying something, like, sometimes our friends come home, and they start to bitch about someone else, he leaves the room. Yeah, even in someone’s absence, he will not say anything bad about them, which is a great quality.”
On a closing note, she added, “I’ve imbibed that from him, otherwise, we’re all like when you’re going somewhere, you want to know, talk about these things and he’s not interested in any of that. And he hates that kind of conversation, which is something I think is very positive.”
