Sai Kumar Turns 64: A Look At The Actor’s Journey In Cinema

South actor Sai Kumar, prominently known for his work in Telugu and Kannada films, is celebrating his 64th birthday today, July 27. On the occasion, several fans and admirers of the star showered good wishes on him. In his career spanning almost 50 years, the actor has appeared in several big films like Thaiyalkaran, Kaaval Geetham, Vaettiya Madichu Kattu, Rangitaranga, Yevadu, Police Story and Anthapuram among others. Be it as a protagonist, antagonist or supporting actor, roles have hardly mattered to him, which explains why he’s widely praised as a performer. His film career is nothing short of inspiring.

The 64-year-old actor began his career as a child dubbing artist. His father, PJ Sarma was a renowned dubbing artist and Sai Kumar followed in his father’s footsteps. He made his acting debut as a child artist and appeared in films like Devudu Chesina Pelli (1975) and Sneham (1977).

In 1991, he made his Tamil debut with the film Thaiyalkaran and after that, there was no looking back for him. He was also a part of several big Tamil films like Aathi, Kotti, A1, and Anbarivu. It was Kannada films that took his career graph to new heights. He was widely appreciated for his role as a cop in numerous Kannada films. The 1996 Police Story remains one of the most celebrated films in the actor’s career.

Sai Kumar’s other films like Agni IPS, Prasthanam, Central Jail, Police Story 2 and RangiTaranga were all major hits at the box office. He has won two Nandi Awards and two SIIMA Awards for his work in Telugu and Kannada films.

Talking about his upcoming projects, he will be next seen in the film Lucky Baskhar alongside Dulquer Salmaan. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on September 9.

On his 64th birthday, the makers of Lucky Baskhar unveiled the first look poster of Sai Kumar. Taking to X, production house Sithara Entertainments dropped the poster and wrote, “Here’s wishing the phenomenal actor @saikumaractor garu a very happy birthday! – Team #LuckyBaskhar”

Sai Kumar’s son Aadi Saikumar followed his father’s footsteps and became an actor. He made his acting debut with the 2011 Telugu film Prema Kavali and was also a part of films like Garam, Next Nuvve, Crazy Fellow, and Top Gear.
