RAMANATHAPURAM: Four fishermen who were detained by the Sri Lankan Navy for straying into their territorial waters on January 5, returned to Rameswaram on Monday.The fishermen - Meslin, Alexander, Karmegam and Muniyasamy - had ventured into sea on January 4. Mid sea, their boat developed a technical snag and drifted into Lankan waters. The patrolling Lankan Navy detained and produced them before the Mallagam Court, which released them later. On Monday, the Sri Lankan Navy handed over the fishermen and their boat to Indian Coast Guard (ICG) personnel at the IMBL. The ICG handed them over to Veeran, Assistant Director (Fisheries), at the ICG base in Mandapam.  The remaining four fishermen are expected to arrive in Ram- eswaram on Tuesday.Fishermen to Resume Work TodayFishermen in Rameswaram will resume work after a daylong break on Tuesday. They struck work for the day to urge the government to negotiate the release of five fishermen booked by  Lanka for smuggling narcotics.
