Recently, a Russian influencer Mariia Chugurova took to Instagram to share a video about her delightful encounter with a local cobbler in India. The video captures the sweet interaction between Mariia and the cobbler, Vikas. The video has left viewers impressed.
In the viral video, Mariia can be seen holding her broken sandal in her hands. She approaches Vikas (Cobbler) and says “Chappal tut gaya” (my sandal is broken). Vikas quickly starts fixing her sandals. During the repair, the influencer asks about the cobbler’s name, and how many years he has been working. Replying to it, Vikas mentions that he has been working for the past 26 years. During the conversation, Mariia highlights that in their country (Russia) they don’t have this type of service, “If you are broke with your shoes, you will walk with your broken shoes.” She was pleasantly surprised by the cobbler’s modest charge of just Rs 10 for the repair. She expresses her gratitude with a sweet “dhannyavad” (thank you). The best part about the video is that the cobbler (Vikas) interacts with Mariia fluently in the English language.
Mariia shared this video on her Instagram handle @mariechug. She mockingly recounted her experience in the caption and wrote, “Mochi helped a Russian kudi in a difficult situation. Today was the day I faced the ultimate footwear betrayal. My trusty slipper decided it had enough and staged a dramatic breakup right in the middle of my walk. There I was, stranded, one slipper on, one slipper off, trying to figure out my next move like a lost contestant on a survival show.”
She concluded her post, “But, of course, India always has a way of turning potential disasters into quirky adventures. Enter my slipper savior, a man whose slipper-repair skills were so legendary, he might as well have been a cobbler superhero. In no time, my slipper was back in action, probably stronger than it had ever been LOL!”

Netizens praised the cobbler’s skills and were impressed by his English proficiency. “Uncle’s English,” commented a user. “Respect for uncle,” added a second. “Loved the gentleman. Educated, cultured, humble, simple,” wrote a third. “Uncle you are amazing,” appreciated a fourth.
