New Delhi: As Twitter aims to hop on the bandwagon of converting its social networking platform into another place for e-commerce, it is introducing new ways to make it easier for users to discover products and places on the site.
While a buy button has been already there, the microblogging site has now rolled out product and place pages which will show and organize relevant Tweets and feature images and video about the product alongside information such as description, price, and an option to buy, book, or visit the website for more details.
Under this new test, users will also be shown pages and collection of pages on their timelines that are shared by influencers and brands. Twitter is also letting users create and share collections of products.
Currently, Twitter is experimenting with a small number of products and places, and collections from curators which include, Demi Lovato, HBO - Game of Thrones, Nike, PEOPLE & Joyus, Reese Witherspoon, Target, The Ellen Show, The Infatuation NYC, among others.
You can either use the updated Twitter app for iOS and Android, or use the web version and visit the profiles of curators to view their collections.
The latest experiment comes in a time when CEO Dick Costolo is stepping down from his position at the company and Jack Dorsey is set to take on the interim role. Costolo has said that there were a host of changes lined up for the microblogging site which are aimed at generating more revenue for the site.
Recently, the site introduced a new ‘Lightning’ feature that allows users to follow live events and not just people. There have also been reports of Twitter’s limited test of a new heart button which could possible replace the star button to favourite or save tweets.
