UDF will win more than 100 seats in Kerala: Ravi
Ravi said that the people are seeking a change in the government for development and progress of the state.

Kozhikode: Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs and Civil Aviation Vayalar Ravi on Saturday said the Congress-led United Democratic Front was confident of winning over 100 seats out of the 140 available, in the April 13 polls in Kerala.

Speaking at the 'meet the leader' programme of the Calicut Press Club in Kozhikode, Ravi said people were fed up with the "anti-people and anti-development" policies of the CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF).

The people are seeking a change in the government for development and progress of the state, he said. Ravi said the CPM, which had removed Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan from the Polit Bureau, was projecting him during the election for garnering votes.

The minister demanded a reason from CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat, for ousting Achuthanandan from the Polit Bureau and why he was not reinstated in it.

The approach of both the UPA government and the LDF government in the state with regard to corruption was different, he said. While the Centre had initiated probes and took action against even a minister in the 2G spectrum allotment case, LDF government had failed to take any action on alleged corruption in the state.

Commenting on the situation in Ivory Coast where more than 450 people have been killed in the fight for power between two rival leaders, he said steps are being taken with the help of French government for evacuating the Indians in the West African nation.

"I had also talked to the Indian Ambassador thrice during last week," he said.

On the allegation of CPI that UDF and BJP had some kind of adjustment in certain constituencies in Kerala, Ravi said, "CPI should not forget that they were with the then Jana Sangh with whom they have shared power".

As for who would become the Chief Minister in the event of UDF coming back to power, he said, "We have a candidate. There is no confusion or scarcity in Congress".
