Indian Railways has made a significant change to its ticket booking system, aiming to enhance passenger convenience.
The restriction on the distance for booking unreserved tickets and platform tickets through the mobile app has been lifted. This means passengers can now book tickets from any station, right from the comfort of their homes as reported by TOI.
Previously, there was a limit of 50 kilometers for booking tickets from a station within the vicinity of the passenger’s location. But now, this restriction has been scrapped, allowing passengers to book tickets without any geographical constraints.
According to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria, this decision aims to simplify the ticket booking process and make it more accessible for passengers. With the use of the UTS mobile app, travelers can avoid long queues at ticket counters and conveniently book their tickets online.
The UTS mobile app, known for its user-friendly interface, has been gaining popularity among rail users, especially those who frequently travel by local trains or require unreserved tickets.
By removing the distance restrictions, Indian Railways is further promoting digitalization and ensuring passenger comfort.
This initiative is expected to encourage more people to utilize the UTS mobile app for ticket bookings, ultimately reducing the hassle of standing in long queues.
