Hyderabad: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday said people of this country have decided to defeat Congress and vote NDA to power in the ensuing polls and the urge to do so is akin to that of 1977 when Janata Party defeated Congress after the Emergency.
"I see the urge of (people) what it was in 1977. The kind of palpitation was visible at that time. The same type of pulse I see today in people. They have not shown their feelings never before (to defeat Congress). People are eager to go out and vote (against Congress)," Parrikar said in a press conference here.
According to him, there is a strong and massive "Modi wave" across all the places wherever he visited.
The Chief Minister is in the city to participate in an interactive session with "intellectuals".
He said he is getting a positive feedback from Telugu people residing in Goa on BJP-TDP alliance in Telangana and Seemandhra. But the CM sees better prospects of the alliance in Seemandhra region rather than in Telangana.
"My feedback from the 15,000 to 20,000 members of Telugu (community) living in Goa is that the alliance will do well...My personal feeling is that the alliance will go much further than what has been predicted particularly in Seemandhra area.
"I think we should do quite reasonably OK in Telangana part of it. But the circumstances are different here," he said when asked about the BJP-TDP alliance.
