Asian Games 2023: Kabaddi to Cricket - Sports India May Win Gold Medals in
Here are the sports and events in which India can win the gold medal in at the Asian Games.

In a record-breaking performance, India bagged 70 medals with 16 Golds at the last Asian Games. The Indian athletes are once again pulling their socks to perform at the highest level in the 19th edition of the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

Here are some sports in which the Indian athletes stand a chance to bring home the gold medal-

Men’s Hockey:

Even though Indian Men’s Hockey has a rich legacy, they have often failed to deliver on the big stage. The team has 9 silver medals and just 3 gold medals in the history of the Asian Games. India had a disappointing loss to Malaysia in the 2018 Asian Games semi-finals which deprived them of a chance to fight for the Gold.

Men’s Kabaddi:

India has dominated Kabaddi in the Asian Games for years. But that was not the case in the last Asian Games when they lost to Iran in the semi-finals and had to settle for a bronze medal. They will be looking to bounce back and regain their status as the top side in Asia. They are likely to finish at the podium but they will be eyeing the Gold medal in these Asian Games.

Men’s Cricket:

India will be sending their second-string side to the Asian Games while the main side plays the World Cup 2023 in India. But that doesn’t take away the fact that they will be one of the favourites to win the Gold Medal at the Asian Games. Ruturaj Gaikwad will be leading the Indian side with a lot of young players who all have played in the Indian Premier League and have experience playing on the big stages. The team is well built and has players who are top performers for their IPL franchises and will be expected to win it all at the Asian Games 2023.

Women’s Cricket:

The Indian Women’s team is ranked 4th in the World currently in T20Is and is the top-rated side in Asia. They will be starting the tournament as the favourites to win the Gold medal. They can face challenges from Pakistan and Bangladesh but they will be expected to bag the Gold medal for the nation.

Javelin Throw:

Neeraj Chopra has taken the world by storm with the way he has dominated the sport in recent times. The defending Gold medalist from the last edition of the Asian Games in 2018 has had stellar performances since then and has been crowned the World Champion, Olympics Champion and Diamond League Champion since then. He would be a favourite to win the Gold medal and the nation would be expecting nothing less from him.
