Chennai To Observe 'No Shoot Day' On July 25 In Memory Of Deceased Stuntman Elumalai
The shooting of the film was being held at LV Prasad Studios in Saligramam, Chennai when the incident took place.

Last week, it was widely reported that Elumalai, a stuntman working on the Tamil film Sardar 2, tragically died after falling from a height of 20 feet. The shooting of the film was being held at LV Prasad Studios in Saligramam, Chennai when the incident took place. Now, a week after the mishap, the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) has decided to pay tribute to Elumalai by cancelling all shoots of any film being held in Chennai for Thursday, July 25. FEFSI chairperson RK Selvamani announced the decision to hold a ‘No Shoot Day’ today in memory of the deceased stuntman.

In a statement released by RK Selvamani, he said, “Members must have appropriate protective equipment at the shooting stations while working on the shoot. We have repeatedly appealed to the Producers Association and production companies to provide medical facilities, including an ambulance. However, most production companies, with few exceptions, do not adhere to these safety rules. Additionally, many film artists and workers on set work without safety equipment, often in hazardous conditions, leading to such incidents at shooting locations. Therefore, we are organising a special safety awareness meeting for film artists and workers at 9:00 am on July 25, at Kamala Theater in Vadapalani to promote safety equipment and awareness among members. Additionally, no indoor shooting (for both small screen and big screen) will be held in Chennai city on July 25, to ensure all association members can attend the meeting.”

Sardar 2 was officially launched on July 12 with a pooja ceremony attended by Mithran and Karthi. Karthi’s father, actor Sivakumar, was also present at the event. Shooting for the film began in Chennai on July 15, and the fatal accident occurred on the second day of shooting itself. The film is a sequel to Mithran and Karthi’s 2022 spy thriller Sardar, in which Karthi played dual roles.
