Chennai: Chocolate lovers in India's southern Chennai are discovering a whole new meaning of the brown stuff, as beauty experts encourage them to try it on face and skin.
Hardly anyone can resist chocolate and customers are finding it hard not to succumb to the new treatment that promises to delight the senses.
Beauty experts claim that chocolate has anti-ageing properties and is beneficial for dry skin.
"Cocoa is the main ingredient used in chocolate therapy. If you do it regularly you can get fantastic results. Chocolate is used not only on the face but it can also be used for the hands and feet while doing a pedicure or a manicure. Besides that was also have a chocolate wrap treatment for the body," says beauty expert, Mallika Gautam.
Moreover, as chocolate is a natural product and it is relatively safe to use it on most skin types.
In this therapy, chocolate in its various forms, be it powder or paste, is applied on the skin and is peeled off like a mask, after it dries.
The customers swear by its benefits and the fashion conscious youth in Chennai is very excited by this new therapy.
"I am a chocolate person. I love chocolate so what better could I ask for then a chocolate pedicure. I think everyone should have a chocolate pedicure because at the end of the day it feels awesome. My skin was really dry and now I can feel the difference already," said Tanvi, who got chocolate facial and pedicure done at a salon.
People of all ages are trying the chocolate pedicures and manicures and beauty experts believe that soon it will be the most preferred treatment.
Gone are the days, when mothers would warn about chocolate being bad for one's skin, with this trend mothers too might soon be seen flocking into the beauty parlours to get the “tasty” skin treatments.
