BERHAMPUR: An eerie silence prevails in Alasing village under Raigada block in Gajapati district following the killing of ward member Surya Mandal (42). Mandal was missing since Friday evening and his body was found on the outskirts of the village on Saturday. His body bore deep cut marks. Family members of the deceased said that Mandal had a dispute with some villagers over a patch of land in the village. A case has been registered.Accused NabbedThe Hinjili Police on Sunday forwarded to court Dusmant Das alias Dipu, the prime accused in the murder of one Gourisankar Samantara at Hinjili. He was arrested from Gallery square under Bhanjanagar police limits on Saturday. Samantara was shot dead by a group of six youths in September. Though the five accused were nabbed, Dipu managed to evade the police dragnet. On a tip off, police raided a house in Gallery square leading to his arrest. A revolver with four rounds of live bullets was seized from his possession.
