CHANGANASSERY: The stage has been set for a change of roles in the Nair Service Society (NSS), with G Sukumaran Nair, its current general secretary incharge, tipped to become its fulltime general secretary.
P K Narayana Panicker, who has been holding the post for the last 28 years, is likely to take over as the NSS president. He is currently on leave owing to health reasons. The change is owing to reigning president P V Neelakanta Pillai, who still has one more year left in his three-year term, expressing his desire to step down citing ill health.

The election to the post of general secretary and treasurer will be formalised at the NSS budget meeting 201112 at the Pratinidhi Sabha at Perunna on Saturday. As there are no other contenders for the general secretary's post, Sukumaran Nair's ascension is a foregone conclusion.

The NSS budget meet will commence at 8.45 am on Saturday, after offering floral tributes at the Mannam Samadhi.
