HYDERABAD: A student on her way to attend Independence Day celebrations in her school died after being knocked down by a RTC bus at Champapet on Monday morning. The girl was walking alone when the mishap took place.M Shravya alias Sai (8) was a student of class III in the Sangam Lakshmi Bai Memorial Girls High School at Vinay Nagar Colony near IS Sadan crossroads. She was the daughter of Raju, a daily wage earner and Anitha alias Geeta, who reside at nearby Singareni Colony.Around 8 a.m on Monday, Shravya left her house to go to school to attend the Independence Day celebrations. “Shravya goes to school with her elder brother daily but she went alone. Her brother, 11-year Pavan did not attend school as it was a holiday,” the girl’s father, Raju said. Shravya got down from an auto near the Muthyalamma temple near DS Nagar on the IS Sadan-Champapet road when she was hit by the bus. “An RTC bus coming from behind hit her leading to serious injuries on the left side of her body and she died instantly,” Saidabad police sub-inspector N Ashok Kumar said.The bus, belonging to Ibrahimpatnam depot with registration number AP 29 TA 190 was on its way to the Mahatma Gandhi bus station. Police took bus driver Malla Reddy into custody. A case under Section 304A (rash and negligent act leading to death) has been registered and investigation is on.
