CHENNAI: Diwali is a festival associated with wealth and there exists a universal belief that the festival is an auspicious occasion to purchase new products.Students from Pearl Academy of Fashion (PAF) have deliberated and come up with a unique concept of celebrating the festival in an eco- friendly manner by recycling the old or unused items in our homes.S Ramalingam, Director, Pearl Academy of Fashion, Chennai said “we have a habit of buying clothes every now and then and stuffing the old ones in some corner of the house, we never consider recycling as an option. Often, dumped clothes can be re-used for a different purpose or given to somebody else to utilise it fully. Not only will this help save some cash, but also reduce the impact on environment.” Fashion Design students from Pearl Academy of Fashion recently conducted a workshop on recycling, wherein they demonstrated how old fabrics can be recycled to make new products. For details, visit www.pearlacademy.com
