Malkangiri: One person was killed and 24 others were injured, three of them critically,when the truck in which they were travelling overturned on a ghat road in Odisha's Malkangiri district today.
The mishap took place in Chitrakonda area when the driver apparently lost control over the vehicle and it overturned killing one person on the spot, I Kiro, Inspector in-Charge of Chitrakonda police station said.
About 70 persons were returning to Solurukunda and nearby villages under Orkle police station after attending a six-day long festival in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh's Bukulawarda area in the truck, he said.
The deceased was identified as Mukta Madkami(40). The injured were being treated at Chitrakonda hospital. Three of them were later shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Malkangiri when their condition became critical, sources said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem and investigation was on, Kiro said.
