New Delhi: A National Security Guard team will assist the Assam police in investigating the blast on the Guwahati-New Delhi Rajdhani Express that killed five persons on Thursday.
The team will help the Assam police in identifying the explosives used in the blast on train at Chungajan in Golaghat district.
Officials suspect extremist tribal group Adivasi National Liberation Army (ANLA) for the blast as retaliation against the assault on a tribal woman who protesting against the government in Guwahati last month.
ANLA leader Dilip Beg on Thursday told IANS by telephone on Thursday his group would not remain quiet until the government conferred the Scheduled Tribes status on the Adivasis of Assam.
"We have been forced to take up arms by the government and we shall not rest until our community gets special recognition like a Scheduled Tribe status," Beg said.
The ALNA is a little-known rebel group active in Golaghat and Karbi Anglong districts of eastern Assam and fighting for special rights for the Adivasis, one of the 120 tea plantation workers community.
