HYDERABAD: The state government is considering to relax the condition on leaving setback for residential homes to be constructed in the state. The setbacks will be applicable to those persons having a plot size ranging from 100 sq.mts to 300 sq.mts.At present, different municipal corporations, councils and other urban local bodies are enforcing different building rules including on setbacks.Already, there is a demand from citizens and others living in Greater Hyderabad and other cities to relax the setback rules.For having a uniformity in the rules, the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) is on the job of preparing a combined GO for all corporations, municipalities and urban local bodies in the state so that there should not be practical problem in future.The exercise will be completed in 15 days and the draft will be submitted to the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) department for issuing necessary orders.The proposed relaxation will be 0.5 metre for a house standing on a plot up to 300 sq.mts.At present, for a 300 sq. mt plot, the setback is 2.5 metres and, it will be 2 metres after the relaxation.Plots measuring up to 200 sq.mts, the new permissible setback will be one metre instead of 1.5 metres as at present. GHMC officials said the objective was to put a check to deviations and unauthorised constructions.
