VIJAYAWADA: The talks between the state government and representatives of AP Lorry Owners Association held in Hyderabad on Saturday failed.Chief secretary SV Prasad, principal secretary (transport) Lakshmi Parthasarthy and transport commissioner Hiralal Samariya represented the government while APLOA president Gopal Naidu and secretary YV Eswara Rao represented the truckers.The truckers are demanding a cut in the road toll, and the prices of diesel and tyres. Officials asked the truckers to call off the strike, promising to bring the issue to the notice of the Union government. But the truckers were not convinced and refused to call off their strike.
