Alia Bhatt Shares Jigra BTS Amid Box Office Row, Avoids Paps After Returning from Kashmir | Watch
Alia Bhatt's return to Mumbai comes amidst the controversy surrounding the box office performance of her latest film, Jigra.

Alia Bhatt returned to Mumbai on Monday evening, arriving at a private terminal after wrapping up a shooting schedule in Kashmir for Yash Raj Films’ Alpha, co-starring Sharvari. Unlike her usual interactions with the media, Alia opted to avoid the waiting paparazzi this time. As soon as she exited the terminal, she headed straight for her car without posing or waving at the cameras. A video of the incident has since gone viral.

Her return to Mumbai comes amidst the controversy surrounding the box office performance of her latest film, Jigra. The movie has drawn attention not only for its low earnings but also for accusations from filmmaker Divya Khossla Kumar, who claimed that its box office figures were being inflated. Divya alleged that the theatres were mostly empty, calling into question the official numbers being reported.

In contrast to her low-key arrival, Alia took to Instagram just moments before landing in Mumbai, sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses from Jigra. One of the images showed her in a bloodied costume, capturing the intense work that went into the film’s production. She also shared a shot from the monitor during the shoot, revealing a still of an emotional scene. Captioning the photos, Alia wrote, “A journey full of Jigra,” expressing her connection to the project despite its box office struggles. Director Vasan Bala responded to her post with a series of red heart emojis, showing his support.

While Jigra opened to a modest Rs 4.25 crore on its first day, marking the lowest opening for an Alia Bhatt-led film in a decade, the movie’s performance has been especially disappointing considering it was released during the festive Dusshera period, a time when films typically see a surge in ticket sales. As of now, Jigra has earned Rs 27.2 crore at the domestic box office and Rs 40.35 crore globally, well below its reported budget of Rs 80 crore.

Despite the ongoing debate around its commercial success, Alia remains focused on her work. Her next project, Alpha, is expected to bring her back into the limelight, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release.
