Bhanwari Devi case: Sahiram Bishnoi surrenders
Key conspirator Shairam Bishnoi has been sent to police custody till January 2.

Jaipur: Sahiram Bishnoi, the key conspirator in the Bhanwari Devi disappearing case, surrendered in Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan on Friday early morning.

Bishnoi has been arrested and sent to police custody till January 2.

According to the chargesheet filed by the CBI in the case, it was Sahiram Bishnoi, who allegedly at the behest of Maderna, hatched the conspiracy to kill Bhanwari Devi.

According to prime accused Shahbuddin, he abducted and killed Bhanwari on the directions of Sahiram Bishnoi. The CBI will record his statement again.

Bishnoi is said to be close to sacked Rajasthan water resources minister Mahipal Maderna, also an accused in the case.

Bhanwari, posted as auxiliary nurse and midwife at a sub-centre in Jaliwada village, around 120 kms from Jodhpur, went missing on September 1 and Maderna is accused of having a role in her disappearance.

A CD allegedly showing Maderna in compromising position with the 36-year-old nurse, had come to light after which she went missing from Bilara on September 1. Congress MLA Malkhan Singh has also been questioned by the CBI in the case.

Her husband Amarchand had alleged she was abducted at the behest of Maderna.

The CBI has already doubled the reward from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh to anyone providing credible information about the missing nurse.
