Bangalore: ‘Vulture Aviation’, a team of Class XII students of Bishop Cotton Boys School, has qualified for competition conducted by NASA. The team is among the three from across Asia, which have qualified for the final round of International Space Settlement Design Competition conducted by NASA. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, the 12 students said they would participate in the finals to be held on July 29 and 30 at Johnson Space Centre, Houston, USA.
The other two teams are students of The Amity School, Saket, Delhi and a school from Lahore, Pakistan. “We qualified in the first round held at Gurgaon. There, we were teamed up with three other teams from Pakistan. We had to plan a settlement on Mercury,” said Kartik Venkatraman, member of structure and design department of the team.
The team which also calls itself a ‘company’, comprises six departments, which includes operations and infrastructure, human engineering, business development, automation design and service and scheduling and costing. The team will be combined with two teams from USA and one team from the UK in the final round.
