Ayodhya: Tourists Seeking Ram Lalla's Blessing Can Stay in Budget 'Homestays' | Check Details
As the prices of hotel rooms in Ayodhya and neighbouring Faizabad touched the sky in view of the high influx of devotees, the state government has introduced the provision of 'homestays'

With less than a month left in the much-awaited grand consecration ceremony of Ram Lala at the Ayodhya temple, hoards of tourists seeking the blessings of Lord Ram have flogged the Uttar Pradesh city. As the prices of hotel rooms in Ayodhya and neighbouring Faizabad touched the sky in view of the high influx of devotees, the state government has introduced the provision of ‘homestays’. As many as 600 houses in the city will offer ‘homestays’ to visiting tourists.

The houses which are being converted into ‘homestays’ have 2-5 rooms. Ayodhya Developmental Authority received over a thousand applications for converting their houses into ‘homestays’.

The step comes as Hotels in Ayodhya and Faizabad have raised tariffs up to Rs 1.30 lakh for a two-night stay ahead of January 22 next year. The sudden hike in room tariffs from January 21–23, key days when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also take part in the historic consecration ceremony.

Hotel owner and President of Ayodhya Vyapar Mandal Pankaj Gupta told News18 that there is a lot of demand for rooms in Ayodhya, which has increased significantly a month before the consecration. However, the administration has asked to give priority to providing rooms to the people coming on the invitation of the Trust.

“It’s after a very long time that the hotel industry in Ayodhya has witnessed a boom. This is all thanks to the UP government that brought in development in the district, giving a push to the hospitality sector as well,” said Sharad Kapoor, owner and managing director of Shan-e Awadh hotel in Faizabad earlier this month.

Ayodhya is estimated to see a footfall of over 2 lakh devotees per day after the consecration ceremony on January 22.
