A Colombo-bound Air India Express flight with 154 passengers was inordinately delayed due to a major snag, causing inconvenience to the passengers.
The flight, scheduled to leave for Colombo at 10.20 am on Sunday, will now probably only leave on Tuesday morning and the passengers were put up in various hotels in the city.
After security checks, the passengers, were waiting to board the flight. As the flight did not take off till noon, the passengers protested.
The airlines said a minor snag had occurred and the flight would leave at 2.30 pm and the passengers were shifted to hotels for lunch.
On Sunday, when the hotel served dinner, the passengers, knew there was a major fault.
The long wait spilled to Monday and the airlines officials said a spare flight was expected on Monday night and promised the harried passengers that they would definitely leave for Colombo by Monday night.
Meanwhile, 20 passengers were put in in flights operated by private airliners and the rest of the 134 passengers were expected to be taken to Colombo by the spare flight.
