Anti Corruption Bureau today arrested a police officer for allegedly accepting as bribe an air cooler worth Rs 4,000 in return for releasing two persons facing inquiry.
DIG (ACB) S K Narjari said Lila Ram of Ramseen village of Jalore district had complained that Assistant Sub-Inspector of Ramseen police station Ugam Singh was demanding a cooler in order to let off his two nephews from the police investigation in a case of motorcycle theft.
"In his complaint, he said Ugam Singh summoned his two nephews to the police station in the name of interrogation and was demanding a cooler to let them off," Narjari said.
After verification, the ACB found the compliant to be true. A trap was laid and he was caught.
