Bopanna says, “Tennis teaches us so many wonderful things and I think experience wins, and that is where we’ve got it”. While the Serbian added, “I would say experience and you know still being devoted and dedicated to the game, every single game.”
Novak concluded the conversation by saying, “We are old but gold”.

In the fun chat at the Monte Carlo Masters, Novak Djokovic revealed the incredible work ethic of Rohan Bopanna. He said, “I see him [Bopanna] in the gym for countless hours and also more hours with the physio, a bit more than before. But it is amazing to share the tour with you for so many years.”
The Serbian also accomplished their achievements as he added, “What an incredible moment to be the oldest number one in singles and doubles. It is great for Serbian and Indian tennis”.

Djokovic recently made more ATP history as he broke a unique record previously held by the Swiss tennis great Roger Federer. The Serbian surpassed Federer to become the oldest number-one ranked player in ATP’s all-time history. The Swiss icon was 36 years, 10 months and 16 days old on his final day as the top ATP player on June 24, 2018.
Djokovic, who is set to turn 37 this May has already bettered the record and can further extend it. He is currently 1015 points ahead of the next best player Jannik Sinner with 9725 points. While Djokovic has played just three tournaments this year, it didn’t stop him from extending his record tally of weeks at world number one to 140.
As for Bopanna, the Australian Open held earlier this year saw the Indian earn the men’s doubles crown alongside his partner Matthew Ebden. A solid triumph at 43 years of age saw Bopanna become the oldest male player in the Open era to ever win a grand slam title. He later climbed to a career-best world number-one spot in the next ATP rankings. He also became the fourth Indian tennis ace to reach the top of the tennis rankings. Others include the likes of Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupati and Sania Mirza. Bopanna currently boasts an impressive points tally of 8080 with his partner Ebden following behind in second place.
