Frequent power cuts in the city has rendered locals and businessmen helpless giving them no respite in this hot weather.
"Six to seven hours of power cuts are regular. However, when the grid frequency goes down we are forced to cut the power supply," said SN Bajpayi, MD Kanpur Electricity Supply Company (KESCO) urging people to understand their constraints.
"We can only supply the amount of power that we are given. If we do not have power how can we give it," he added. Demanding adequate power supply BJP MLA Salil Bishnoi said, "Despite an union minster and five SP legislators in the city, it has inadequate power. Erratic power cuts have adversely affected local businesses and denizens who have no respite in this weather."
"With 50 lakh people inhabiting Kanpur, it stands third on revenue generation after Noida and Ghaziabad yet it does not receive adequate power supply," he added.
He has also urged the district authorities to minimise load shedding.
