How to Make a Marshmallow Gun
How to Make a Marshmallow Gun
Marshmallow guns are simple toys that shoot marshmallows at high speeds and with great accuracy. They are great for parties or just having fun with your friends. Best of all, they are fast, cheap, and easy to make. All you need are a series of PVC tubes and connectors!
Steps

Creating a Simple Gun

Cut a ⁄2 in (1.3 cm) wide, non-threaded PVC pipe into 3 sections. Measure and mark the sections with a ruler and marker first, then cut them. A special cutter for PVC pipes will work the best for this because it will give you clean edges, but you can use a hacksaw too. You will need the following sections: 2 3 in (7.6 cm) sections 1 7 in (18 cm) section

Slide a 3 in (7.6 cm) section into the bottom of a PVC T-joint. Get a ⁄2 in (1.3 cm) diameter, non-threaded PVC T-joint and turn it so that it looks like a T. Take 1 of your 3 in (7.6 cm) sections, and push it into the bottom of the T-joint. This 3 in (7.6 cm) section should be oriented vertically. The 2 holes on the left and right ends of the T-joint should still be empty.

Push the remaining 2 sections into the left and right ends of the T-joint. Take your second 3 in (7.6 cm) section, and push it into the left end of the T-joint. Next, take your 7 in (18 cm) section, and push it into the right end of the T-joint. Be sure to push these pieces firmly into the T-joint, or they will fly off when you blow into the gun!

Fit a ⁄2 in (1.3 cm) PVC cap onto the bottom of the gun. You don’t have to do this, but it will give the gun a more finished touch. Simply pop a ⁄2 in (1.3 cm) wide, non-threaded PVC cap onto the bottom of the vertical 3 in (7.6 cm) section. Make sure that it is nice and snug.

Pop a mini marshmallow into the gun and blow on it. The marshmallow goes into the 7 in (18 cm) end, while you blow into the 3 in (7.6 cm) end. Make sure that you take a deep breath before you blow into it! Never aim at animals or people’s faces. It’s not recommended that you aim at other people. If you do decide to have a marshmallow fight, wear some safety goggles to protect your eyes, just in case.

Building a Double-Handled Blaster

Cut a ⁄2 in (1.3 cm) piece of non-threaded PVC piping into 7 pieces. You can use a hacksaw, but a pipe cutter will give you a much cleaner edge. Measure and mark the pipe first, then cut it accordingly. You need to cut the following pieces: 5 3 in (7.6 cm) pieces 1 5 in (13 cm) piece 1 7 in (18 cm) piece

Fit a PVC elbow joint with a 5 in (13 cm) and a 3 in (7.6 cm) piece. Get a ⁄2 in (1.3 cm) diameter, non-threaded PVC elbow joint. Insert your 5 in (13 cm) piece into 1 end, and a 3 in (7.6 cm) piece into the other end. Turn the structure so that the 5 in (13 cm) piece is on the left and horizontal, and the 3 in (7.6 cm) piece is on the bottom and vertical. Push the pipes into the elbow joint securely so that they don't wriggle.

Attach a T-joint to the bottom of the 3 in (7.6 cm) piece. Take a ⁄2 in (1.3 cm) diameter, non-threaded PVC T-joint and turn it so that it looks like and upside-down T. Push the vertical part onto the 3 in (7.6 cm) piece that's already attached to the bottom of the elbow joint. At this point, the horizontal bar of the T-joint should be on the bottom with the left and right holes empty.

Pop a 3 in (7.6 cm) piece into the left and right holes of the T-joint. Be sure to push these pieces into the T-joint securely; they’ll undergo a lot of pressure when you use the gun, and you don’t want them to pop off. If you want a longer gun, use a 5 in (13 cm) long pipe on the right side of the T-joint instead of a 3 in (7.6 cm) pipe.

Add an elbow joint to the left side and a T-joint to the right side. Take another ⁄2 in (1.3 cm) diameter, non-threaded PVC elbow joint, and push it onto the 3 in (7.6 cm) piece on the left side of your gun. Next, take a ⁄2 in (1.3 cm) diameter, non-threaded PVC T-joint, and push it onto the 3 in (7.6 cm) on the right side of the structure. Keep this T-joint upright so that it looks like a T. The vertical part of the T should be pointing straight down and not attached to anything.

Insert the 7 in (18 cm) piece into the right end of the T-joint. Be sure to tap the piece securely into the T-joint so that it doesn’t fly off when you use the gun. This completes the base of your gun; all you have left are the handles.

Insert the remaining 3 in (7.6 cm) pieces into the bottom of the gun. Take your last set of 3 in (7.6 cm) pieces and orient them vertically. Push 1 of them into the bottom of the elbow joint on the left side of the gun. Push the second piece into the bottom of the T-joint. For a nicer finish, pop ⁄2 in (1.3 cm) non-threaded PVC caps onto the bottom of each 3 in (7.6 cm) piece.

Pop a mini marshmallow into the nozzle and blow on the mouthpiece. Insert a mini marshmallow into the 7 in (18 cm) nozzle. Hold the gun in both hands, with 1 hand on each of the vertical 3 in (7.6 cm) handles. Aim the gun, then blow on the 5 in (13 cm) piece that you attached to the elbow joint in the very beginning. Never fire marshmallows at animals or people’s faces. You shouldn’t really fire at other people either, but if you’re having a marshmallow fight, it would be a good idea to wear protective goggles—just in case a missile goes astray.

What's your reaction?
