I-League: Sporting Clube de Goa rope in defender Creson Antao
Antao is likely to make his debut for the club against Dempo in a charity match of the Goa Football Association to be held on Sunday.

In a move to strengthen their defence, Sporting Clube de Goa have roped in former Dempo defender Creson Antao for the upcoming season of the I-League 2014-15.

The 30-year-old player, who hails from Majorda in South Goa, on Tuesday joined the club and is likely to make his debut for the club against Dempo in a charity match of the Goa Football Association (GFA) to be held on Sunday.

Creson enjoyed a successful period with his former club, where he helped them to win four I-League titles, but his fondest memory was reaching the semi-finals of the AFC Cup.

"Winning trophies is a great feeling and I came to Sporting Clube de Goa to continue that trend," Creson said.

He said his favourite footballer is former teammate Denzil Theobald.

"Each day he would motivate me to arrive half an hour early for practice, so we could work on our touch. He has played in the World Cup for Trinidad and Tobago and it was very encouraging for a player of that stature to take such an interest in local players," he added.

"The players have made me feel at home very quickly (at Sporting Clube de Goa). I like the atmosphere of the group," Creson said.

"Creson is a strong player with good height and is comfortable on the ball. With his experience, I am sure if he stays committed he can become an integral part of the team," Sporting Clube de Goa's Head Coach Oscar Bruzon said.
