Banita Sandhu FINALLY Addresses ‘Limited’ Role in Bridgerton: ‘You Have To Put Your Ego Aside’ | Exclusive
Banita Sandhu reveals she would never do 'large roles' in a 'rubbish' project. She also states her limited screen time in Bridgerton got her 'many bonuses'.

News about Banita Sandhu’s appearance in the third season of Bridgerton was no secret but it still came as a pleasant surprise to many, particularly the Indian audience. Ever since the release of the latest season, she has been sharing BTS pictures and clips that has kept the viewers hooked. And while there are ample fan theories about how her character Miss Sita Malhotra may go on to have a more interesting graph in the upcoming season, her limited screen time in the series has become a point of conversation.

In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Banita finally addresses the same and says, “Sometimes, you have to put your ego to the side. I was just so grateful to be a part of that show. It was never about, ‘Oh, this character has a limited screen time’. There were so many bonuses that came out of that.”

For her, the silver lining was getting to be a part of a globally acclaimed production, a feat that not many has achieved. “It’s the biggest TV show on Netflix. Who would say no to that? If they’re inviting you to come be on set, work with this amazing team, dress up in these beautiful costumes and be a part of a Shondaland production, you would be stupid to say no to that!” she reasons.

The 27-year-old continues, “I’ve always said since the beginning of my career that I would rather do something that’s great than a large role in something that’s rubbish. Bridgerton is the biggest show on Netflix. It was a no-brainer! It’s Bridgerton! I was such a big fan of the show. As a fan, just to get to the set and meet everyone and read all of the script for the next season was a dream come true, in all honesty.”

So, how did she become a part of Bridgerton? “I was on a holiday with my family and I got a call to audition for the show. I did the audition and two days later, my agent told me that I got the part and that I needed to come back to London. I left my family abroad and came back to the UK. And I was in costume trials before I knew it. The whole process was very, very quick,” says the October and Sardar Udham actor.

The Netflix series has earned immense love and adulation from audiences across the globe not just for its interesting storyline but also for its costumes and sets. Talking about what went behind looking like a character from the Regency era in the costume drama, Banita says, “Bridgerton is a big hair and make-up show. The whole process would take about probably two hours.”

She further adds, “The hair and make-up would take an hour-and-a-half and then the costumes would take another good half hour. There’s so much detailing that goes into it. The accessories – right from the earrings and the bags to the head pieces that goes with the wig – also have to be kept in mind.”
