Dr Harisingh Gour Central University To Partner With Spanish Institutes For Exchange Programmes
An international seminar was organised in Spain graced by Professor Neelima Gupta, representative of the Indian University Association.

Dr Harisingh Gour Central University in Madhya Pradesh will partner with Spanish Universities for faculty and student exchange programs. The agreement is yet to be signed between Dr Harisingh Gour Central University and Spanish universities. An initiative is being taken in this regard under the leadership of Sagar University Vice-Chancellor Professor Neelima Gupta. As a representative of the Indian University Association, Governing Council member Prof. Neelima Gupta visited Spain’s Autonomous University of Barcelona, IE University Madrid, Autonomous University of Madrid, and University of Valladolid. She discussed the academics, research and other important policies there. She was in Spain from July 8 to 11.

An international seminar was organized in Spain which was graced by Professor Neelima Gupta. The main objective of this was to increase the contact between Indian and Spanish universities. The delegation from India participated in such a seminar. And visited five universities in Barcelona, Madrid and Valladolid in Spain.

In this, topics like academic and research partnership, cooperation, and student and faculty exchange with universities were discussed. The Spanish universities which are part of this agreement include Autonomous University, International University Catalonia, Lleida University, Vigo University, Jaen University, University of Salamanca, and University of Valencia.

As a representative of UGC, Professor Neelima Gupta said that this step is necessary in the present times. The attraction towards foreign universities is increasing among Indian students. There is a need for the internationalisation of education in the National Education Policy 2020.

Referring to the 2021 guidelines of UGC for internationalisation, she said that centres of Indian universities should be established abroad and centres of foreign universities should be established in India.

In Spain, she discussed twinning programs, joint degree programs and dual degree programs. She also discussed the schemes sponsored by DST, UGC, and INSA running in India.

The Vice-Chancellor further said that Dr. Harisingh Gour University will play an important role in the internationalisation of education through academic partnerships, research and courses. The experiences of his Spain visit will soon be implemented and cooperation will be established with the universities of Spain in conducting courses and research through the International Cell of the University.
