Legendary Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar was ‘disappointed’ with Pakistan’s batting display against India during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 clash between the two arch-rivals at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Skipper Babar Azam scored a fifty while Mohammad Rizwan scored 49 runs but the rest of the batters struggled to get going against a fiery Indian bowling attack.
Pakistan folded for a mere 191-run total, and they suffered a collapse of astonishing proportions, Babar Azam and Co. were at 155/2 at one stage, but their middle order was blown away by the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav.
Akhtar rued the missed chances on a batting track wherein he felt that the Pakistan players could have done much better. The Rawalpindi Express claimed that the likes of Babar, Abdullah Shafique and Rizwan could not convert their starts into a big total and that came back to haunt the Men in Green.

After the dismissal of both Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq, Babar and Rizwan stitched together an 82-run partnership but once the Pakistan captain was dismissed by Siraj, it was the start of a collapse which saw the Men in Green lose 8 wickets for just 36 runs.
While Akhtar made his disappointment clear, Indian greats such as Irfan Pathan, Dinesh Karthik and Wasim Jaffer couldn’t help but take sly digs at the Pakistani batters.
