Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Gohar Khan, Asad Qaiser, Ali Muhammad Khan and others will hold a meeting to discuss the formation of the new central and provincial governments, Pakistani broadcaster GeoNews reported.
During the meeting, they will also discuss forging alliances with other political parties. The PTI claimed they have the majority as independents backed by the party won 91 seats in the Pakistan elections. PTI backed independents because the supreme court of Pakistan alleging irregularities in intra-party polls banned PTI from contesting the polls with the ‘bat’ symbol due to which a large number of PTI candidates fought as independents.
PTI said it will not forge an alliance with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Meanwhile, the PPP and the PML-N have also held discussions to form a coalition government after PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif instructed Shehbaz Sharif to speak to the Zardaris. Shehbaz Sharif held meetings with the PPP supremo and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and if reports are to be believed, these two will come together to form the government with other parties.
Nawaz Sharif also instructed Shehbaz Sharif to stitch alliances with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) as well.
“We are not in contact with PPP or PML-N. We are not intending to form a coalition government with PPP and PML-N. We will form the government at the Centre and Punjab,” Gohar Khan was quoted as saying by the Pakistani broadcaster.
He said PTI is winning 150 National Assembly seats and would be able to achieve the required number of seats to form government at the centre. He also expressed confidence that PTI has a clear lead in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the party will form the government there.
He dismissed fears of horse-trading and said independent candidates belong to PTI and they will follow party directives.
