Watch: Large Monitor Lizard Rescued From Kitchen Roof In Indonesia

The rainy season provides a much-needed reprieve from the heat and benefits the ecosystem, but it also attracts a slew of frightening critters to our houses. From insects to reptiles, the increased humidity and standing water provide excellent circumstances for a variety of creatures to thrive. One such case from Indonesia has gone viral, in which a big monitor lizard was spotted hiding on the kitchen roof. It was later rescued by officials.

When cooking food, a knocking sound could be heard from the roof of the kitchen in the house. The family members couldn’t figure out where this sound was coming from. It was also hard to sleep at night fearing the noise. One day the large monitor lizard emerged by ripping the false seal of the kitchen. The family members were shocked to see the tail. They immediately contacted the rescue team.

A video of the rescue has currently gone viral on Instagram where officials are struggling to catch the monitor lizard. The video opens with two officials standing under a broken kitchen roof. One of them is pulling the monitor lizard’s tail with all his force. The large lizard gives a hard time to both the rescue officials in rescuing it. Somehow, the monitor lizard falls to the floor and both the officials rush to catch it. Towards the end of the clip, the officials are seen successfully rescuing the animal safely. Shared on July 21, the video has collected over 9.8 million views. Several social media users lauded the rescue officials for their effort and bravery.

Many users were concerned as to how did the animal climb up there. Others gave their opinion stating that the kitchen roof might have rats or birds nest that made the large monitor lizard climb.
