Moringa, also known as drumsticks, has gained popularity as a superfood due to its numerous health benefits. One can incorporate this nutritious food into their diet as there are plenty of recipes available online. However, a recent video which shows an elderly woman preparing drumsticks in a unique style has grabbed the attention of online users.

The viral video opens up with the elderly woman igniting a makeshift fire pit in the ground. She then carefully places a bunch of fresh drumsticks over the flame, allowing them to char until they reach perfection. Once charred, she removes them from the pit and proceeds to clean them with water, removing the seeds and the fibrous parts using a spoon.

In the next stage of the cooking process, the old woman is seen heating a pot over the fire. She then adds mustard oil, mustard seeds, garlic, urad dal, green chillies, chopped tomatoes, onions, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt garlic to the pot to create a flavorful base for the dish. Once the spices are well incorporated, she adds the prepared drumstick seeds and fibres into the gravy, ensuring they are thoroughly coated. She mixes the semi-gravy with the drumsticks thoroughly and lets it simmer for some time. Finally, the dish is ready to be served.

“This amazing lady is my hero. I wish I could be next to her, helping her, learning from ageless experience. These are the strong women that our country should appreciate and honor. Full salute to her,” admired a person.

One user offered an alternative perspective, suggesting, “This is one way ..like a barbecue method… But burning and discarding the outside and only going for the soft inside is actually wasteful..most Traditional South Indian families will just wash the mornings, maybe slightly scrape it with a peeler or a knife and add the cut pieces to the curry or sambhar.”
