Robert Maudsley is lodged in Wakefield Jail.

Many criminals in the world have been in jail for a long time and when people learn about their crimes, they get shocked. But do you know there is a criminal who has been in jail for 50 years (Britain’s longest-serving prisoner in solitary confinement)? According to reports, he has been imprisoned behind 17 steel doors because he is considered to be very dangerous. But when people hear about his crime, they get confused because they cannot decide whether this person is a criminal or a saviour. Let us know more about the criminal.

According to the report, the name of the criminal is Robert Maudsley. He is considered to be Britain’s most dangerous serial killer. He holds the record for being imprisoned for the longest time. This man has been in jail for 50 years. He is lodged in Wakefield Jail. It is an 18-foot x 15-foot cell and to reach it, one has to pass through 17 steel doors. This jail is also bulletproof.

As reports suggest, in a book named Inside Wakefield Prison, authors Jonathan Levi and Emma French have given more information about the Robert Maudsley cell. The table chair in his cell is made of cardboard. The toilet sink is also fixed to the ground through bolts. There is a small slot at the bottom of the cell, with the help of which he is given food.

Robert has been in jail since the age of 21. But the reason for his being in jail is quite surprising. For this, people do not understand whether to call him a criminal or a saviour. In 1974, Robert killed a 30-year-old criminal named John Farrell, who used to sexually abuse children. In 1977, Robert, along with another fellow inmate, killed another criminal named David Francis. He, too, was in jail for the crime of sexually abusing children. He killed him very brutally.

Robert was put in Wakefield Jail in Yorkshire. But even there, after a year, on July 29, 1978, he killed a criminal named Sally Darwood, who had killed his wife. Robert did not stop there. He also killed another criminal, Bill Roberts, who was imprisoned for raping a 7-year-old girl.

After these murders, it was considered unsafe to keep him among the common prisoners and due to this, a special glass prison was built for him when it was ready in 1983 and he was shifted to that prison. Once, he had said about his experience of being in prison that he felt as if he was locked in hell. Now Robert is 71 years old and is imprisoned in the same prison.
