Carlos Alcaraz decided to turn a tennis court into a golf course before the start of a group stage match of Davis Cup 2024.

Carlos Alcaraz, a bona fide tennis superstar, seems to like a bit of golf too. The multiple Grand Slam winner recently decided to turn a tennis court into a golf course before the first group stage match at the Davis Cup Finals 2024 in Valencia.

The Wimbledon champion was having a fun time on the court along with Spain captain David Ferrer ahead of their tie against the Czech Republic.

The duo was warming up on the court when Alcaraz decided to try his hand at golf.

The challenge was to “get the ball as close to the baseline as possible”.

Alcaraz took his position while standing close to the net and then hit the ball, targeting the baseline.

With the shot seemingly missing the mark, Ferrer offered a little helping hand and changed the direction of the ball with his racquet.

He then skillfully placed the ball on the baseline and broke into a joyous celebration with Alcaraz.

Alcaraz then played his role in giving Spain a perfect start as they beat the Czech Republic 3-0 in the first group-stage match.

The 21-year-old was up against Tomas Machac and the match turned out to be a thriller. The duo was tied at one set each when the Czech star was forced to withdraw due to cramps. The 21-year-old Spaniard lost the first set 6-7 (3) but made a roaring comeback in the second one. The match continued for one hour and 38 minutes before Machac retired during the first game of the third set.

Spain secured their first point after Roberto Bautista beat Jiri Leheck 7-6 (1), 6-4.

Alcaraz later teamed up with Marcel Granollers to face Jakub Mensik and Adam Pavlasek. The Spanish pair won 6-7 (2), 6-3, 7-6 (2).

Alcaraz has been competing at the Davis Cup for the first time since 2022.

“It’s a special feeling for me playing here in Valencia, Davis Cup. I missed last year. This year, I’m really excited about it,” the youngster said, as quoted by ATP Tour.

In their next group-stage fixture, Spain will take on France on September 13.
