Bengaluru Engineer's 65 LPA Google Package Goes Viral, Techies Not Impressed
Bengaluru: An engineer was offered 65 LPA package from Google for the position of Senior Software Engineer. While some found the package 'crazy', others were 'unimpressed'.

A developer working at American multinational finance company JP Morgan came across a profile of an individual with ten years of experience who had shared their Google job offer anonymously. Kartik Jolapara found the details interesting, so much so, that he took a screenshot and shared it online with the caption “crazy offers”. Many, likely earning more than the posted offer despite similar experiences, were unimpressed. Some even found it interesting given that the individual is from a tier 3 college.

“What 10 years old experience can get you? Crazy offers,” wrote Jolapara on X (formerly known as Twitter) while sharing a screenshot.

The screenshot reveals how an individual with 10 years of experience, who graduated from a tier 3 college and has a non-CS background, secured a lucrative offer from Google. The offer includes a salary of Rs 65 lakh per annum, along with additional perks: a Rs 9 lakh annual bonus, a Rs 19 lakh signing bonus, and a Rs 5 lakh relocation bonus. The individual was offered the role of Senior Software Engineer, which, according to the screenshot, they “accepted wholeheartedly”.

Take a look at the screenshot right here:

After going through the viral screenshot, an individual wrote, “Am I the only one who’s not thrilled looking at these numbers? I mean aren’t they common in tech? Am I missing something?”

To this, Jolapara replied, “The jump is what seemed crazy. At least for me.”

“A lot of people in the replies seem confused. If you haven’t added it all up, the Google offer is 1.64 crore for the first year. Not crazy for 10 years, but still pretty good,” said another.

A third commented, “To be very honest. Not impressed with the numbers. I’ve seen better by the same company. But I’m happy for him. 10 years experience and L5 requires a lot of expertise.”

“These numbers can be seen with people with 6-8 years of experience as well. I have seen people getting similar or even more. But again that’s a really good number and I hope the guy is happy and wish him all the best,” expressed a fourth.

A fifth joked, “So like after 10 years we all will be rich?”

“60 LPA after 10 years? Sir, I’ve seen some people with 3 YOE making way more than that already,” expressed a sixth.

A seventh joined, “This is good not something crazy.”

“Non-CS from Tier 3. Interesting,” pointed out a seventh.
