MBBS vs MD
In India, the medical degree course begins after completing school education. The undergraduate (UG) course typically lasts five years, including an internship. Since there is a PG course called MD after pre-medical studies in the US, an Indian student planning to enrol in an MD programme must first complete an MBBS in India or obtain a pre-medical degree from an accredited college in the US. The four-year MD course consists of two years of theoretical classes followed by two years of clinical training.
Admission Process For MD in the US
To gain admission to an MD course in the United States, one must have an MBBS degree from India, or a pre-medical degree from an American medical college. Additionally, Indian students must pass an English language proficiency exam, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).
