As the temperatures are soaring and an extreme heat wave has been declared by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), people in major parts of the country have been suffering from heat strokes. The department has also issued a warning and advised people to take proper precautions to protect themselves from the heatwave. But it is not just human beings that are suffering from the rising temperatures. Animals and birds are equally suffering from the recent rise in temperatures. A similar incident has happened in Madhya Pradesh, where the temperatures have reached as high as 46 degrees Celsius, leading to the deaths of several bats and birds due to heat strokes.
The extreme heatwave in Madhya Pradesh has caused a lot of distress to the residents as well as animals and birds. Recently, it was found that many birds and bats were seen falling from the trees in Ratlam. This happened due to the extreme heat, which caused a heat stroke. Many of these birds died on the spot. In Ratlam, the temperatures have soared past 45 degrees Celsius, making it impossible for the birds to survive. A video of the incident, shared by the Instagram handle @ourmadhyapradesh, has gone viral, showing the heartbreaking impact of the heatwave on birds in Ratlam, near the municipal office.
In the clip, it can be seen that many birds and bats have fallen to the ground after suffering from heat stroke. The clip was captioned, “Ratlam: Intense Heat Causes Bats to Fall from Trees, Many Die as Temperature Reaches 45 Degrees.”
Once the clip was uploaded, many people expressed their despair in the comment section. One of the users wrote, “They must have been dead from dehydration, not heat. Nobody keeps water for them in houses or opens their areas for them. All urban people want to feed dogs and not any other animal.” Another user commented, “Please, someone offer water to them. It’s too disheartening to see them.”
So far, the video has received 210,000 views on Instagram. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has already issued a ‘Red Alert’ for a heatwave in Ratlam. These summer heatwaves are expected to continue for almost a week more.
