Ram Charan REVEALS Wife Upasana Was Jealous Of His on-screen Intimacy: 'It Was Hard For Her To...'

Pan-India superstar Ram Charan turns a year older today. On the personal front, the actor has been married to Upasana Konidela since 2012, their relationship transitioning from friendship to romance. However, in a 2013 interview with Masala, the actor disclosed that Upasana sometimes feels jealous of his close bond with his mother, Surekha, and his on-screen intimacy. Reflecting on their marriage a year later in an interview with the same website, Ram mentioned that it took time for Upasana to grasp the dynamics of a film set, given her non-filmy background. He explained that he had to guide her through the workings of the film industry.

He said, “I think she (Upasana) gets jealous when she sees the way I connect with my mother. As far as intimate scenes are concerned, I guess I shouldn’t lie about it. Yes, she was not comfortable with it initially. It’s understandable, she comes from a very different background, so it was hard for her to accept me doing these scenes. Frankly, I wasn’t sure she would understand, but to my surprise, she did! She’s very mature, and I love how she has blended into my family.”

In fact, Upasana spoke about it in a recent chat with Galatta Ritz. She mentioned that because they came from different backgrounds, she didn’t always understand his work. She admitted asking him at times about why he had to do certain scenes with his co-stars, like any concerned partner would. “Like every woman, I’ve sometimes asked him if he needed to do certain scenes with heroines. I’m like, ‘Come on, what is this?’ But he’s like, ‘Please understand, this is my profession and this is what happens.’ He explained the technicalities, and now everything is fine. Initially, I didn’t understand; we came from two different worlds. But there’s no one he has better chemistry with than me, he looks the best with me,” she had said.

Ram and Upasana got engaged in December 2011, followed by a star-studded wedding in June 2012. They welcomed their daughter, Klin Kaara, in June 2023. Ram Charan’s upcoming films include Game Changer with director Shankar, and untitled films with Buchi Babu Sana and Sukumar.
