It’s official, Dhanush will be headlining the biopic of Ilaiyaraaja. The actor shared the news on X, previously known as Twitter, and also dropped the first poster of the film. The poster was launched at an event in Chennai, in the presence of Kamal Haasan, Vetri Maaran, Gangai Amaren and Bharathiraja. The film, which is also titled Ilaiyaraaja, will be directed by Arun Matheswaran. Nirav Shah has been tasked with the cinematography duties. It has also been revealed that Ilaiyaraaja will be scoring the music of the film.
In the poster, a young Dhanush was seen with a bag on his shoulder and ready to take on the world. The poster also featured the old Chennai, previously known as Madras, feels. Sharing the poster, Dhanush said he was honoured to be playing the part. See the poster below:

Fans are already excited about the film.
Dhanush expressed his admiration for the musical maestro at the poster launch event. “I’m a fan and a devotee of Ilaiyaraaja. His music is my companion and it suits everyone. More than that, his music is my acting teacher. I used to listen to a song or BGM before a scene – and his music tells me how to act in the scene. That’s how I act. Vetri Maaran has seen that. Many say that it’s a huge challenge and responsibility. But, I don’t think so. I know his music will guide me. He’s been there with me and will always be there with me,” he said, as quoted by India Today.
“As an artist, it’s an honour to be part of this project. I’m immensely happy that the invite came from Isaignani himself. I’m blessed,” he added.
Connekkt Media, PK Prime Production and Mercuri Movie will produce the biopic of Ilaiyaraaja.
