Thiruvananthapuram: In yet another embarrassment for the Congress which is trying to force its senior leaders to contest in the Lok Sabha elections, the AICC spokesperson and its Chalakudy candidate PC Chacko said that the Congress is facing an adverse situation nationally.
He said that he did not want to contest the election this time but the Congress wanted a strong opposition because of which he was asked to contest. Chacko admitted that the political climate is not favourable for the Congress nationally and they might have to be in the Opposition.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Ernakulum press club, Chacko said that though the government has achieved a lot in its tenure, it was not communicated effectively to the people.
He also felt that the corruption cases including the 2G scam has put the Congress in the dock while adding that election results are unpredictable.
