Internet sensation Wazhma Ayoubi was all praise for Team India following their resounding win over Afghanistan in the second ODI World Cup match. Despite hailing from Afghanistan, Ayoubi shares a great admiration for the Indian cricket team. She has proved it time and again by showing support for the Men in Blue.
The scenario, however, was quite tricky for the Afghan lady on Wednesday when India squared off against Afghanistan in Delhi. Donning the colours of her country, Ayoubi marked her presence at the Arun Jaitley Stadium to cheer for the Afghan brigade. She was certainly left disheartened after India had the last laugh in the high-scoring clash. The hosts chased down a 273-run target at ease to pick up an 8-wicket victory.

Keeping aside the heartbreaking outcome of the match, Wazhma Ayoubi made sure to congratulate the Indian team. She penned a heartfelt note on X that read, “Congratulations to Team India for their impressive victory.” Ayoubi also highlighted some priceless moments of the match in her post, shedding light on the friendship between the two Asian countries.
According to Ayoubi, it melted her heart when she saw the Indian fans welcoming every Afghanistan batter with loud cheers. “Despite the small number of Afghans present in the stadium, the support they received from the Indian spectators was remarkable. This display of friendship between India and Afghanistan is truly heartwarming,” Ayoubi wrote.
Congratulations to #TeamIndindia for their impressive victory. In addition to witnessing an exceptional display of cricket from both of my favorite teams, there were a few other noteworthy moments during the match that stood out to me.Firstly, I was truly touched to see Indian…

Ahead of the game, players of both sides observed a moment of silence for the victims of the Herat Earthquake. The gesture also received a thumbs-up from Ayoubi. Before signing off, Ayoubi referred to the golden moment between India batter Virat Kohli and Afghanistan pacer Naveen Ul Haq.
Before the match could begin, the Delhi crowd was quite hyped anticipating a heated face-off between Kohli and Naveen. This reason dates back to June when both players got involved in an on-field altercation during an IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants.
Although, nothing happened like that. After the match was wrapped up, the duo was spotted hugging each other during the customary handshake. Ayoubi reckons “the interaction between King Kohli and Naveen Ul Haq was nothing short of regal.” “Their gestures exemplified the true spirit of sportsmanship,” she added.
Earlier on Wednesday, Afghanistan demonstrated their quality in batting against India’s star-studded bowling lineup. Batting first, the visitors posted 272 runs on the board, powered by half-centuries from captain Hashmatullah Shahidi and Azmatullah Omarzai. The Indian opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan made a blazing start to the chase.
Rohit slammed a record-breaking century and racked up a 156-run partnership with Kishan. Virat Kohli came later on the crease and played an unbeaten 55-run knock, sailing India across the victory line.
