New Delhi: It's been one year since Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of India and a vast majority of Indians are happy with the Central government's work according to a survey conducted by Axis-My India for IBN.
Modi took charge on May 26, 2014 promising a radical change in governance and ushering in 'acche din' (better days) for the people.
To gauge the mood of the nation IBN carried out a survey where the sample size was over 20,000 people from 23 states covering 155 districts with a 70/30 rural-urban spread.
Over 72% of those surveyed are satisfied with the Modi government in the last one year. The satisfaction is attributed to development, skillful governance and lower prices. Just 26% are dissatisfied with government for want of development and a little over 14% of the people attribute it to price rise.
The majority says Modi is an effective Prime Minister and India’s image has improved globally.
Below are the major survey findings:
56% feel Narendra Modi is fast and an effective as Prime Minister.
13% say Modi is less work and more talk. For 15% he is slow and ineffective.
Over 6% say he has a clean image but is not a good administrator.
Respondents largely feel the economy has looked up in the last one year.
61% say their economic conditions have improved.
63% say India’s economic situation too has improved.
55 per cent feel corruption has either come down or remained the same.
47% say inflation is down or has remained the same.

There are still concerns over job stagnation, rise in inflation and price rise.
There is confusion over the Land Acquisition Bill. While over 35% do not support the Land Bill, an equal number are undecided, leaving just 28% supporting the Bill.
Whereas Clean India (Swachch Bharat) has appeal across the country, there is cautious response to other initiatives.
In fact an overwhelming 85% endorse Swachh Bharat as the best initiative and 76% endorse Jan Dhan Yojana as the second best initiative.
43% support Make In India and 42% say yes to Digital India. Mudra Bank and Smart City garner thr support of over a third respondents.
Mass media pips social media as Modi’s most effective communication too. While 30% feel Modi communicates effectively through radio (Man Ki Baat), 23% say Modi reaches out effectively to people through TV and just 20% say social media effective platform for Modi to communicate with only 17% feeling Modi reaches out best through public rallies. Only 4% say Modi reaches out effectively through interventions in Parliament.
Even as there is no clarity over RSS interference in government, but there is support for controlling fringe elements.
Only 32.64% disagree that there is interference while 32.35% feel RSS interferes in government functioning and 35% are undecided.
