Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Shatrughan Sinha on Sunday, after his party's ignominious defeat to the Nitish Kumar-led Mahagathbandhan, claimed that he had repeatedly warned his party about various issues but was sidelined.
"My party had sidelined me, I tried to constantly warn my party on various issues but nobody listened to me. Accountability should be fixed for this defeat," said the MP from Patna Sahib.
Referring to the BJP's decision to take action against him for talking against the party, Sinha said, "I have done nothing wrong and don’t know why the party is thinking of taking action against me. Wrong feedback was given to the Prime Minister."
Sinha, once BJP’s star campaigners, was sidelined in Bihar Assembly elections. During the course of the five-phase polls, he had often tweeted against the way the party was campaigning in Bihar.
He also congratulated Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad, Janata Dal United leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for their efforts.
Sinha further added that Lalu played with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's statement on reservation in order to get votes.
"Lalu twisted RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's statement on reservation and used it well to influence voters," he said.
Comparing Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi and Nitish Kumar, Sinha said that the latter is a taller leader than the former.
The Mahagathbandhan secured a landslide victory to give Nitish Kumar a third term in power after decimating the BJP-led alliance in the high-stakes Bihar Assembly elections.
