Mysore: Stepping up his campaign for expulsion of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda from Janta Dal (S), its Parliamentary Party leader M P Veerendra Kumar accused him of indulging in "dirty politics" and "politics of children".
"The process for convening the JD(S) National Council has already been initiated for expulsion of Deve Gowda "lock, stock and barrel", Kumar said.
"As it is, Gowda has no moral right to call himself JD(S) national President," he said accusing the former prime minister of "indulging in dirty politics and politics of children".
Referring to Gowda's statement that Veerendra Kumar and another party leader Surendra Mohan were "ignorant" of the party Constitution as to say that he (Gowda) would be expelled from the party, Kumar said Gowda wanted them to read the Constitution.
Quoting Article 21/4 of the party Constitution, he said the Constitution explicitly stated that disciplinary action and even expulsion proceedings could be initiated against those who work against the programmes and decisions of JD(S).
He reminded Gowda that when Sharad Yadav joined NDA led by BJP, he was expelled from the presidentship of JD(S) and Gowda was elected in his place.
JD(S) stood steadfastly to the principles of secularism, he said.
When the question of coalition government in Karnataka came up with a split verdict following the Assembly elections, JD(S) National Executive had decided to join hands with Dharam Singh led Congress government to prevent BJP from coming to power, he said.
